Dr. Mae R. Catacutan graduated from Silliman University with a B. Sc. Chemistry degree (Cum Laude) as a National State Scholar. She worked for a year at the Lopez Sugar Central in Negros Occidental and later at SEAFDEC/AQD from 1978 to the present. She obtained her M. Sc. and Ph. D. in Fisheries Science from Kagoshima University in 1980 and 2003, respectively, through scholarships from the Japanese government. Dr. Catacutan worked on nutrient requirements of important aquaculture species such as tiger shrimp, mud crab, mangrove red snapper, sea bass, pompano, and native catfish. She formerly in-charge of feed formulations for the Small-Scale Feed Mill at SEAFDEC/AQD.
